This is my go to recipe for all holiday cookies. Decorating Christmas cookies is a family tradition. I use a muffin pan to divide out the different color icing, sprinkles, and other decorating items. Here is a muffin pan I personally love and it's easy to clean. Here are some cookie cutters to get you into the spirit (Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas). I love getting my kids involved in holiday preparations and they absolutely love to eat them! I'm pretty sure more icing goes into their mouths than on the cookies, but it's the memories that count.
Tip: It is best to bake the cookies the day before you plan to decorate. Get the kids involved and pretend you are on your own cooking show. This will give you time to allow the cookies to fully cool without little eyes (or hands) trying to get to them. It is best to allow the cookies to fully cool on the baking sheet to avoid any cookies breaking while they are still hot.
